A week ago, Google sent Microsoft a cease and desist letter demanding the ‘official’ YouTube app be removed from the Windows Phone Store. Microsoft’s response to those demands was something along the lines of ‘you can get off that high horse of yours now’. Of course we’re paraphrasing and Microsoft actually did say they’d be “more than happy” to resolve some of Google’s problems with the app, like the lack of ads and the removal of video downloads…as long as Google offered them the APIs necessary to make that happen. Now, on the deadline that Google demanded YouTube be pulled from the Store, Microsoft has sent out a conveniently timed update to the app. As if it weren’t enough Microsoft trapped Google in a Catch-22 situation, they’re going the extra mile to troll there way into keeping the YouTube app around.
