We don’t always see what Microsoft’s marketing teams are cooking up around the world, but whoever filmed these insane, absurdist Asian promo videos deserves a raise. It’s possible that the trio of clips below (titled Windows 8 Training Camp) weren’t meant for public release, but they’re still some of the most memorable, engaging, and on-message 30-second spots we’ve seen featuring the new touch-based operating system since it was released last October. According to a company spokesperson, the videos were made for Asian markets and posted to Microsoft’s general channel by mistake, where they were discovered by the rest of the internet. Yesterday, we reported on a bounty of new Windows Phone models which were detected by the developers of popular Chinese app Love Wallpapers. Asian manufacturer Foxconn has resumed hiring at a plant in Zhengzhou, China in preparation for a new iPhone, a Bloomberg source says. The factory froze hiring in February, but has reportedly been hiring again for the past month to meet extra capacity demanded by Apple. The added workers are expected to build not only a new iPhone but also existing models.

Yesterday we reported that the Nokia Lumia 520 was available through UK operator O2 on PAYG for 119. We noted that this was the lowest launch high-street price we had seen for a Windows Phone 8 device. However, as one of our commenters pointed out, Carphone Warehouse are offering the same device, also on O2, for just 99(plus a 10 top up). Carphone Warehouse also have the Lumia 520 available SIM free for 149.95, and for free on a 11 per month on a 24 month O2 contract (50 minutes, unlimited texts, 100MB data). The Nokia Lumia 720 is now on sale around the world. UK operator O2 is offering the Nokia Lumia 720 for free on a contract or 299.99 on PAYG. UK retailerClove are selling the handset SIM-free for 299.99, with the first stock expected in April 8th. The phone is now also available for order, or pre-order, in Australia, Italy, Russia, and a number of other European and Asian markets, with wider availability expected later this month. The Lumia 720, which can be viewed as the successor to the Lumia 710, sits right in the middle of Nokia’s Windows Phone portfolio, and aim to appeal to “ayoung and design-savvy crowd with busy social lives” by bringing”high end innovations to a new audiences”.There also a noteworthy imaging focus, with a good main camera (6mp, f/1.9 aperture) and a wide angle front facing camera.
