At full-form inside the awesome QNX Porsche and new QNX Bentley, and of course the BlackBerry PlayBook.

The smartphone OS market share for Q1 2013 is led by Android and followed by iOS, while everyone else lies at distant numbers. Microsoft now has a small victory to celebrate as it surpassedBlackberry in terms of market share and became a distant 3rd largest smartphone platform. It appears that Nokia’s effort in increasing Windows Phone’s marketshare is being more effective than that of Microsoft’s efforts. I am a hardcore Android user and have been using it for the past 4 years, along with 2 years of iOS experience.

After BlackBerry World finished last year, I wrote a post titled 5 Important Observations from BlackBerry World 2012.  With the event now renamed to BlackBerry Live, and BlackBerry 10 phones now on the market and in our hands, I’m doubling it up this year to ten important observations.  There’s a lot to cover here, so let’s dive right into it. And note, these observations are not listed in any order of importance. They’re all important!

Last week during BlackBerry Live, only a few major announcements were made. We’ve already discussed the cross-platform BBM launch platforms in detail but we haven’t really talked in depth about what the other announcement means to the company. Yes folks … I’m talking about the BlackBerry Q5. When Thorsten Heins unveiled the slick lower cost QWERTY device on stage, pretty much everyone noticed two things

What fun would Friday be with a new BlackBerry Z10 leak? Here’s one to play with before the long weekend (in the US at least). Filling in for lbfe, Kris dropped this leak in the forums earlier today. This one is tricky as it’s technically for the STL100-4 but has been tested and works on the STL100-2 and STL100-3 as well. Soooooo, once again – be careful – if you don’t know what you’re doing then just move along.  Read More

Before BlackBerry Live 2013, I genuinely believed we would see a BlackBerry 10 beta announced for the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet. It made sense for BlackBerry to kick off the beta at the largest event of the year. Earlier, BlackBerry stated at the BlackBerry 10 launch event that PlayBook owners could be hopeful for a release of BB10 this year. However, as the BlackBerry Live 2013 event came and went without any mention, users started getting antsy. Our own Ross Cheriton asked Thorsten Heins, Frank Boulben and Kristian Tear about BB10 on the PlayBook during a Q&A session

Back in February this year we announced that the BlackBerry Z10 was available to buy in India but it came with a hefty price tag, which judging by the comments didn’t go down too well. Neil’s Keep Moving Project is a wonderful collaboration of art, words, and heart. In February of 2012, Neil Gaiman teamed up with BlackBerry for his Keep Moving Project. It was a rather ambitious idea, to combine fan submitted story ideas and art work with Neil’s unique story telling abilities into what he titled A Calendar of Tales. Over the course of a few weeks, Neil took to Twitter, asking his followers questions such as “What’s your happiest memory of April?” and “Tell me something you lost in September that meant a lot to you.” The replies became the basis for the stories, one for each month. Neil turned the stories into audio recordings, asking his fans to submit illustrations and videos to go along with the words
