Remember the EVO 3D? Swap out the HTC logo for an Amazon one, and you just might be onto something. According to a new Wall Street Journal report, one of the world’s most famed forkers of Android is looking to expand its mobile portfolio by adding the one crucial device it lacks: a phone. As the story goes, the company has been toiling on a pair of smartphones as well as an “audio-only streaming device,” all to “expand its reach beyond its Kindle Fire line of tablet computers.” If you’ll recall, we’ve heard that Amazon was dabbling in similar works since at least 2010, but the notion of expanding the Amazon ecosystem is now more pertinent. One of those phones is a higher-end device that offers up a glasses-free 3D display — it’s bruited that it would use “retina-tracking technology” to enable visuals that “seem to float above the screen like a [Tupac?] hologram.” In fact, that eye-scrolling technology that was initially rumored to be a part of the Galaxy S4 may instead make its debut on Amazon hardware

This updated build should be rolling out today, although notifications won’t start pushing until February 26th. Done With This Post

Verizon is rolling out yet an OTA update to the HTC Rezound as of this morning, this one claiming to add “HTC Device Enhancement” (only one enhancement, obviously), so we’re not quite sure what’s inside. The new version number is 3.14.605.13 710RD, and you can probably expect it to begin rolling out some time this week. The Incredible 2 is also getting some OTA love, with the some sort of cryptic changelog. Given that we saw a totally unexpected security update to the now-ancient EVO 4G last week, it seems possible these “enhancement” may be security-related as well.Rezound, Incredible 2 Done With This Post? If you’re sporting one of HTC’s 2012 flagship models – the One XL (evita), One S (ville), or EVO LTE (jewel) – then your day just got a little bit better. The first CM 10.1 nightlies, labeled as experimental in this case, just landed on get.cm for all three devices. This, of course, brings stock Android 4.2.x to the handsets.Unfortunately, there’s still no sign of 10.1 for the “original” One X (endeavoru), but if you’re ready to de-senseify one of the aforementioned handsets, hit the appropriate link below.

While it’s been nearly a year since Sprint last issued an OTA update to the EVO 4G, it looks like the Now Network isn’t quite content to let the first EVO die just yet. A small patch incorporating security fixes was announced over at the Sprint Community forum today, bringing the EVO to version 5.07.651.6.While this may not be the world’s most anticipated update, it’s definitely a noteworthy one. It’s one of the first times we’ve seen an Android phone get an official update after over two years on the market, at least in the US.

While it’s not a major Android version update, Sprint is rolling out a pretty good upgrade to Evo LTE customers. The over-the-air software will add the ability to stream audio/video to a television set or other display via an MHL cable. Neat! The update will also bring a variety of improvements, including to WiFi, Bluetooth compatibility, and the proximity sensor while listening to voicemail. So hopefully you won’t have to worry about your face pressing buttons now.

Heads up, folks. Looks like the Sprint HTC EVO4G LTE is getting itself a bit of an update today. We're not quite sure exactly what's new in the 44-megabyte update (the changelog you see here is the same aslast month's Jelly Bean update), bringing things to version 3.16.651.3, but folks in our forums are reporting improvements to the proximity sensor, a properly silenced camera shutter (for when it should be silent), and voicemail seems to be improved. We'll update should we hear anything official

We’re hearing from a tipster that the EVO 4G LTE Jelly Bean update is rolling out today, confirming the Sprint leak we reported on yesterday suggesting as much (the build number matches, as well). Here’s a screenshot of the update dialogue:Doesn’t get much more confirmed than that. We’re still waiting on an official changelog from Sprint, though it’s likely that will just be a mirror image of what’s shown here. Start frantically hitting that ‘Check for updates’ button! Thanks, William

According to a photo taken of an internal Sprint page by an anonymous tipster, the EVO 4G LTE is finally scheduled to receive an update to Android 4.1 – starting tomorrow. Now, we should clarify two things. First, this tipster isn’t one we have particular reason to consider reliable, though there is a link to DARA in the leaked image, an internal Sprint web portal. It’s certainly a real possibility that this is from inside Sprint. The wording and formatting of the page also looks legit to us. Second on the clarification list, there have been previous “leaks” from Sprint suggesting the EVO would be receiving 4.1 on X date, that have later turned out to be false.
