Recently the blogosphere has begun to coalesce around a common idea: OS X 10.9 is going to be delayed. Balderdash, I say. OS X 10.9 isn’t delayed, because Apple hasn’t announced a ship date for it. In fact, Apple hasn’t said much publicly about iOS 7 or OS X 10.9, except a passing comment from Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing Phil Schiller, who mentioned that Apple would “get new versions of iOS and OS X” into the hands of developers at the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in San Francisco in June

Apparently, the Samsung Galaxy S4 is more fragile than both its predecessor the Galaxy S3, and the Apple iPhone 5. This comes right at a time when many are questioning the build quality of Samsung’s premium handsets. SquareTrade rated the Galaxy S4 with a “breakability score” and during tests they identified that it would not

TheBarclays Stockbroker CFD/FSTapp lets you trade on the move using Contact for Difference (CFD) and Financial Spread Tracking (FST) trading (e.g. leveraged trades in which you can go long or short on a market, specific share price, or other financial instrument). The app allows you to monitor the latest share prices and market movements, research prices via real-time charts, execute trades, view trading history, and view / amend multiple watch lists. The Barclays Stockbroker app is actually a rebranded version of the recently released City Indexand IFX apps, a result of Barclays Stockbrokers white labelling City Index Group’s trading service. While the City Index brand will likely be familiar to those who dabble in the stock market, the Barclays brand, thanks to its high street brankches and banking services, is better known amongst the general public.

One of the perks of shopping online is the ability to get your goods tax-free at times. But that may be coming to an end soon. The U.S. Senate has agreed to move forward with a bill that would empower states to impose sales taxes to out-of-state retailers, including e-commerce sites. The measure — which

Apple today announced their financial results for the second quarter of fiscal year 2013 (the months of January, February, and March). Apple brought in $9.5 billion in profit off of $43.6 billion in revenue. In previous years Apple offered conservative guidance on revenue and profits, though recently they made the switched to publishing a range into which they realistically expect the fiscal results to fall. And Apple’s results easily fell within that range. Those buckets of cash come courtesy of sales that included 37.4 million iPhones, 19.5 million iPads, and “just under 4 million” Macs

It’s no secret that Apple hangs onto your Siri data for some length of time (as other companies so with search data and the like), but it hasn’t been clear exactly how long it keeps that data sitting on its servers. Wired has now cleared that up somewhat, though, hearing from Apple spokesperson Trudy Muller that the company “may keep anonymized Siri data for up to two years.” That word follows another report from Wired yesterday that raised concerns about the issue. As Muller notes, the data is immediately deleted if a user turns Siri off at any time, and it’s anonymized from the start; neither your Apple ID or email address are stored with a data, but rather a randomly generated number that represents the user and becomes associated with the voice files. That number then gets disassociated from voice clips after six months, but Apple still hangs onto the files for another 18 months for what’s described as testing and product improvement purposes

Dell indicated that it would take Carl Icahn’s bid for the company seriously when it struck a deal with the billionaire investor earlier this week, and it may have more reason to do so now — multiple sources are reporting that Blackstone has now abandoned its rival offer. According to the Financial Times, Blackstone’s investors weren’t convinced of the deal’s merits, and felt that Dell’s value on the stock market is already fair. Blackstone’s deal would have included an option for shareholders to hold onto their stake. With the private-equity firm seemingly out of the picture, however, Dell’s committee may give further thought to Icahn’s bid, and founder Michael Dell’s chances of taking the company private himself have also received a..
