MobileTechReview and SlashGear have been putting the Verizon exclusive Nokia Lumia 828 through its paces in their respective reviews. The PureView branded 8.7 megapixel camera gets a lot of praise, especially for its low light performance. Other areas highlighted in the review includes the 4.5 inch AMOLED display, the broad range of Nokia exclusive software, and the quality of voice calls. Both reviews end by concluding the Lumia 928 is a worthy competitor to other high end smartphones and is the best Windows Phone device currently available on Verizon.

When Verizon Cloud launched last month, it would only back up a few Android devices — not quite the cross-platform utopia that the carrier had in mind. Today’s launch of the Verizon Cloud iOS app should get the company (and subscribers) closer to the original vision. Like its mobile counterpart, the iPhone-focused release syncs or streams documents and media from every platform that Verizon supports, including PCs. Just don’t expect a wide safety net, though, as the iOS app won’t back up call logs, contacts or messages

The same Galaxy S4 we all know and love, with less bootloader protection and more good karma If you're the type who would rather not play the cat and mouse game with Samsung to keep your bootloaderopen on the Galaxy S4, here's some interesting news. While Microsoft has been busy promoting the newest Windows Phone it hasn’t forgotten about the low-light Lumia that started it all. Earlier this week they released an advertisement for both television and the internet showcasing the low-light prowess of the Lumia 928 versus the Galaxy S4 and the iPhone 5. The Lumia 928 borrows most of its camera tech from the Lumia 920. Here’s another video from the Redmond giant showing off the low-light powers of that original photo-eating Windows Phone.

The raw exploits to work around the locked bootloaders on some Galaxy S4s is released On the heels of the release of the Galaxy S4 on Verizon, Android security researcher Dan Rosenberg has released the tools and files needed to work around the bootloader security of the AT&T and Verizon versions of the Galaxy S4. Unlike the other versions of the S4, the versions built for America's two biggest carriers have an extrasecurity layer at the bootloader level, which makes it a bit difficult to flash a custom recovery or boot image to the device. Rosenberg's tools work around these issues, and allow the user toflash custom kernels and recoveries on the AT&T and Verizon branded Samsung Galaxy S4. It's worth noting that these aren't for the novice, so you might want to wait a day or two to see what other developers can build using the new bootloadertools. Hopefully, something simple and sane can be made for those folks who want or need to do a little magic on the software of their Galaxy S4
