Finally, we have some HTC-exclusive software to talk about! The manufacturer of the gorgeous Windows Phone 8X and 8S hasn’t done much to support its lovely pair of handsets after launch (at least compared to Nokia), but yesterday there was an intriguing sign of life. It came in the form of an app update for the Beats Audioapp, which creates a specific audio profile toenhance the quality ofthe handsets’ music playback.

Sometimes, updates break things. That seems to be the case for some HTC owners who, upon receiving a silent update to the newest version of Google Play Services, are having trouble using apps that rely on location data. According to HTC phone users in this support thread, Google Now continually asks to turn Location Services on, location-dependent applications like Foursquare and WeatherBug don’t function properly, and Maps is unable to lock onto a location.

HTC has been in the smartphone game since its inception, so sometimes you just have to give credit where it’s due. They created the first Android phone that was built for consumers and even made some of the first devices to even feature keyboards and touchscreens. Today Nokia has decided to file yet another patent suit against HTC claiming infringement with the HTC One its main target.
