I just got an email from Wikitude that let me know that they are all set to launch a beta of their new Wikitude Places app for BlackBerry 10. If you had a BlackBerry running OS 7 or 7.1, you’re familiar with what Wikitude can do. However, the BB10 version will have a brand new user interface and features that we’re sure to love, all in time for BlackBerry Live! This is, of course for right now, just a beta. While Wikitude Places will have many of the features we’ve come to know and love, it will be missing BBM Integration.

The iPhone is the best camera you have with you all the time, and that’s why fashion photographers and models alike often use it to take and share fun photos while on shoots. Nothing beats a DSLR for final photos, but increasingly the iPhone is the new polaroid for everything else on set. Add in the power and community of Instagram and it really is a whole new world for fashion photography. To get some industry insider tips on how to take the best possible fashion photography with your iPhone, we enlisted Mobile Nations’ own design lead, David Lundblad, the frequent subject of his photo shoots, Amanda Delduca of Capture Fashion, and asked videographer Martin Reisch to document it all. The video up top has David explaining what he shot, how he shot it, and why he made the choices he did

Apple CEO Tim Cook. (Credit: James Martin/CNET) Apple doesn’t seem ready to leap into the mobile payments arena, at least according to comments made Tuesday by CEO Tim Cook. At Tuesday’s conference call announcing fiscal second-quarter earnings, Cook responded to a question about mobile payments. “I think it’s in its infancy,” the Apple CEO said.

Martin Reisch, aka safe solvent is iMore’s go-to videographer for events like CES and Macworld, and he’s just joined us in New York City for our big, upcoming [Redacted]. The moment he landed he walked in with a giant Crumpler Dry Red No. 9 gear bag, and we just knew we had to get a look inside it. Starting at the top, Martin had his 5D Mark III, and since he’s a firm believer in backup bodies, he had his 5D Mark II as well

Good news for those of you who watch Netflix “on the go” and who also have 720P devices like the ATIV S or HTC 8X. Netflix version 3.0.0.1 is now out on the Store, and it adds at least two things that we can see right off the bat: support for 720P resolution (meaning no more “black bars” for viewing) and double wide tile support. That first one is pretty huge as being able to see full HD video on a 720P HD screen is kind of a big deal for Netflix fans.

Perhaps the second screen experience for HBO megahit show A Game of Thrones provided through Xbox 360′s SmartGlass functionality and HBO Go’s iPad app isn’t enough for you? And maybe you want a bit more of a George R. R. Martin touch to your Game of Thrones book companions? Another publication has commissioned Dutch concept artist Martin Hajek to bundle all the less-pricey iPhone rumors together in some plausible renderings. The 3D designer’s fresh batch of conceptual renderings imagine the rumored device in two flavors, one with a screen measuring four inches diagonally and the other sporting a larger 4.5-inch display. Hajek took into

We’ve had a few reports come in today and a discussion in our forums about a new firmware update that is evidently being pushed out to those with a Lumia 920. To be clear, this is just a firmware update (not OS), bringing it from 1232.5951.1249.1017 to 1232.5951.1249.1018. That’s a small change and we’re confident in saying no new features will be on board. This should also be only for those on Orange UK (EE) with carrier subsidized Lumia 920s. We are not getting reports of any other carriers, nor is this the new 1308 firmware with Storage option

It has been widely speculated that Apple may launch a larger iPhone with a 4.8-inch screen to compete with similar sized Android smartphones. So Steve Hemmerstoffer of Nowhereelse.fr teamed up with designer Martin Hajek to create high quality renders of what an iPhone 6 with the 4.8-inch screen may look like. Continue reading →

The reason one choses a Surface Pro Windows 8 tablet over an iPad or Android tablet is pretty simple – the power of a full Windows PC with the portability of a tablet. In the above video we have Martin giving a demo of that power, by playing Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on his tablet… Read

Vodafone UK today began sending out text messages to iPhone 4S owners on its network instructing them not to upgrade to iOS 6.1 due to issues with 3G performance. iOS 6.1 was released to the public on January 28. If you’ve not already downloaded iOS 6.1 for your iPhone 4s, please hold off for the next version while Apple fixes 3G performance issues. Thanks The carrier has yet to offer additional information on the issue, but Apple’s iOS 6.1.1 update has just entered developer testing earlier this week

Tuesday morning we woke up early and headed over to Blue Bottle Coffee for some state-of-the-art-of coffee. If you like coffee and you’re even in San Francisco, it’s simply a must-visit. When Apple events are in town, the line out front of Blue Bottle is often a long and filled with geeks as the lines to get into the sessions.

After a night of good times, good friends and a few (maybe more) good drinks, today was the BIG day… CES baby! I have mixed feelings about A Song of Ice and Fire, and the TV show adaption, Game of Thrones. On one had, they’re brilliant, genre-pushing stories that create a rich, wonderfully textured world and weave together an incredibly intricate web of characters and plots. On the other hand, the world is so sprawling, the characters so numerous I’ve almost gotten to the point where I’ve stopped caring. A little discipline, a little restraint, and a lot more focus, I think, would help enormously. Absent that, however, there’s now George R.
